Martín Iron

               The world knows about the cowboys. Cowboys are people who live in the middle of the desert in the west of the United States. You can see them in movies with his ridiculous hats, boots and an accent very difficult to understand like if you were on vacation in Rio de Janeiro with your awful english and heard an Australian for first time… Exactly. You´d understand nothing.

                But here in Argentina, we don´t have Cowboys. We have true heroes. We have Gauchos. The gaucho is a particular character who lives in “La Pampa húmeda” in the middle of the country. The gauchos are brave as lions, they don´t fear to anything. The only thing that the Gaucho hates more than work at the office is the injustice.

At the present, there are so few of them. But in the nineteen century they were in charge on keep the safe of people. They used to be lay down all day in his “Chosas” drinking “Mate” (typical drink of people who live in lands close to Rio de La Plata) and sharing time with his wife “La China”.  The funniest thing about the Gauchos is the clothes that they wearing. They wear “bombachas” instead pants and his weapon is two little balls with a rope that get them together - “La boleadora”. They´ve fought against the most powerful people during decades. They´ve fought against those who abuse of his power, just to get richer his friends and contacts.

The debacle of "The Gaucho" has come up when the politicians were looking for new lands to keep the economy stable. They decided that the unique option to be leader of the region was to made a pact with his powerful friend Great Britain. This country from Europe gave modern weapons to Argentina and to his government. Because of that, the "boleadoras" got useless against them. Day after day "El Gaucho" has loose his figure of hero. He saw how his roll was separated from Argentinian Culture until almost die.

There was one gaucho who survive all kind of pressions, tortures and injustices.  One man who got famous because of his adventures, because of his courage. One man who is recognize for every Argentinian who believe in justice. It doesn´t know if he is alive or he was a myth. But we know something for sure, he is a legend. His name is… Martín Iron.
